The Knowledge, Art & Networking or KAN Festival is a gathering of development and art enthusiasts held every 3rd week of January in Tanzania. It is an ideal space at Usa River, Arusha Town, where development practitioners, artists and the regional community meet. To collectively explore practical ways of understanding and appreciating each others’ role in deepening their contribution to development in its various manifestations.

KAN Festival 2021 will feature live music, art exhibition, storytelling, debates, poetry/the power of spoken word, workshops and film screening with lively sessions of networking.

KANx is a youth platform that facilitates intergenerational dialogue and provides a platform to spur their new thinking and innovation. KANx connects young people with scholars, academicians and policymakers through deep discussions on development issues and civic participation.

The aim is to bring young people from various sectors and universities to not only network but share opportunities, examine challenges and collaborate in pursuit of a youth-centred development agenda and address youth challenges. KANx also seeks to understand and identify youth-centric policy hindrances and capacity constraints that youth face in undertaking community centred enterprises.

KAN Festival 2021 introduces the pilot KAN Run, a jogging and cycling event that will promote healthy lifestyles through participating in different sports and games. The vision of KAN run is to establish a sustainable community that focuses on healthy lifestyles and further their personal fitness through running and cycling and encourage the community at all levels to participate in other different sports and games.

The pilot of KAN Run themed “Emerge! Healthy, Strong and Fit.” will start and finish at the hearts of KAN Festival at MS TCDC grounds, Usa-River Arusha on the 30th January 2021. KAN Run is composed of 21K, 10K & 5K fun and family-run. KAN Run is expected to grow a crowd of over 700 running community and 300 cyclists.
